MALL (Mobile Assisted Language Learning)

Today we will explore one more urgent tool for language learning and self-education in general, that is mobile applications.

Mobile-assisted language learning (MALL) is language learning that is assisted or enhanced through the use of a handheld mobile device.

The main principles of MALL:

•  The main emphasis is not on a device but the mobilty of the learner 
•  We can learn across different contexts (different social contexts, different locations)
•  Focus on the notion of seamless learning

QR-codes

QR-code is the trademark for a type of matrix barcode first designed in 1994 for the automotive industry in Japan.

Some ideas of using QR-code:

1. can be used as an addition to the text;
2. for creating some games among students;
3. you can get your homework by using QR-code

Quizlet will help you to learn words!

You know that there are thousands of mobile apps for education and it is impossible to explore all of them, but I have just done it with one of them in practice. The app that I`ve examined is called Quizlet. You can use it through your browser or download a mobile app from PlayMarket for free. Why has it caught my eye? Just because it is colourful, convenient and logically organised. Everything you will see with your own eyes if you follow the link, where I`ve created my own cards for learning.

MOOC

MOOC stands for Massive Open Online Courses. Although there has been access to free online courses on the Internet for years, the quality and quantity of courses has changed. Access to free courses has allowed students to obtain a level of education that many only could dream of in the past. This has changed the face of education.

2. edX is aimed to increase access to high-quality education for everyone, everywhere. Enhance teaching and learning on campus and online, advance teaching and learning through research. 

It embraces different spheres beginning with the Art and Ethics, ending with Phisics and Science.
It also contains programs of MicroMasters, Professional and XSeries Certificates.

2. Udemy Free Courses – Udemy is an example of a site allows anyone to build or take online

courses. It's goal is to disrupt and democratize education by enabling anyone to learn from the world’s experts. The site has more than 100,000 students enrolled in its courses, including several, outside the Faculty Project, that charge fees.
F.e in Foreign laguages learning courses u can choose the level, form of studying and even the price. There're also free courses.


3. ITunesU Free Courses – Apple’s free app

gives students access to all the materials for courses in a single place. Right in the app, they can play video or audio lectures. Read books and view presentations.
I think, it's more convinient to those who have Apple products. It's also available on iPad and iPhone.

In conclusion, I would like to say that the translation of lectures, tests, textbooks, assignments, audio and video materials in electronic format is a routine work, and then you have to do it once, but then the teacher himself will understand the benefits of his action. The export of materials in various formats expands the possibilities of education to unprecedented heights. Compactness and reliability of data storage will also play a role - now you can forget about the lost leaves and dusty notebooks.

WIKI

Wiki is a web technology used for collaborative publishing on the web. Wiki is a type of server software that allows you to work with data on a remote server on the Web. Users interact with the software through a web interface that lets them read, edit and publish content.

I am sure everyone has ever used Wikipedia, but i'm also sure many of us have never tried some other opportunities of WIKI. I couldn't imagine that there are numerous of them!!!😲

WIKI sites include:

Encyclopedic editions

being an information resource, this site attracts hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world to discover their contributions, and hundreds of millions just to read.

Corporate WIKI

knowledge bases that collect corporate rules, workflows, case studies that have accumulated in the company over the years. Used to train new employees.

Fan VIKI

These are websites dedicated to a specific area that excites a group of people. From anime lovers to beer lovers, from movie lovers to architects and designers.

Educational WIKI

These are mainly collective research projects. These problem-oriented projects are usually developed by students and moderated by their teachers. Can also be used in education as a resource and collaborative environment.

I studied some WIKI sites used in education.

 For example, Teflpedia is a resource dedicated to everything related to teaching English. Their goal is to become the primary user resource for English teachers from around the world.

Wikiversity is a project dedicated to learning resources, learning projects and research for use at all levels, types and styles of education, including training and non-formal education.

WIKI is improving every day, and who knows, maybe tomorrow will be the most popular resource for education.

Hello) today I going to talk about Google services for English language learning)
